Missy Fischer—When I was a senior in high school, there were a lot of things I considered when I was choosing which school I wanted to attend for college. Size, distance from home, majors they offered, price, extracurricular activities and the surrounding city, town or village played major factors for me. And in the end, I chose Brockport because of its size. I felt that I wouldn’t just be considered a number here. I felt that my professors and other advisors and peers here at the college would be able to actually get to know me on a personal level and help me succeed through my journey here at Brockport. And I’m glad I made my decision based off that because three years later and I am happy to say I was right. My professors, advisors and peers have all been able to get to know me and help me thrive in the last three years here at college. I can honestly say that 90% of the professors and advisors I’ve had knew me on a first-name basis and that felt good. It made me feel at home and comfortable to go to them with questions and concerns. I attribute a large amount of my success throughout my college experience because of the people here at Brockport. So ultimately, I chose Brockport because of its size, but I stayed because of the people.
