Katelynn Groh—I planned on writing this post a couple days ago, but life got in the way! But nevertheless, I am writing to you guys at 11:45 pm on December 31, 2014. Better late than never right?
Tonight I am doing what I love most: spending the night with my family. We made a delicious dinner that consisted of twice-baked potatoes, steak, CRAB LEGS 😀 , and peas…us Groh’s go all out! After our feast (of sorts) we all settled into the living room where we watched The Equalizer with the ever so handsome Denzel 😉 And I highly recommend that movie! Denzel does not make a bad movie! After the movie we had some ice cream (Edy’s Slow Churned Double Chocolate Brownie…!?) and watched the ball drop with sparkling grape juice in hand. As the countdown began I realized just how ready I was for 2015. 2014 was great, but it had its fair share of difficulties.
In 2014, I: lost “friends” and gained new ones, participated in research, got the TA position for next year, had a deer jump through my front window, met Ian Somerhalder (bae), visited the Big Apple with one of my best friends, helped my dad after his post-knee surgery, got a job at American Eagle, and so much more. It was a year of learning, in good situations and bad. But all in all, this year was filled with many blessings and has made me so grateful for everything and everyone in my life.
But 2015…? I believe 2015 will have big things in store for myself and my family. My mom is finally starting her new job as a nurse practitioner after going back to school January 2008, I will begin my SENIOR year of college, my younger brother will graduate and will become a college freshman, an internship might be on the horizon, and I have my 2015 resolutions to accomplish! Some people think resolutions are pointless, and to be honest…I don’t remember half the ones I set last year (I set 10 by the way). I blame it on the fact that my phone deleted the note that held them all. Technology….. Some of them I did achieve, but not all. One of the resolutions on my list this year is to complete the 2015 Reading List by Popsugar. It is a hefty list, but I am determined to finish it. I have been wanting to read some of these books for a long time but always put it on the “back burner”. Plus, it’ll be a great form of relaxation during the semesters. As cheesy as it is, I do want to focus on me this semester. I want to make more “me time” during the semester and step out of my comfort zones and experience new opportunities. I am determined to make 2015 the best year yet, and with this attitude I have no doubt I will accomplish that.
And now I leave you with one of my favorite quotes, and yes, it is Disney. “Ah yes the past can hurt. But the way I see it, you can either run from it, or learn from it.”
