My Favorite Memory of This Semester: Big Step, Big Rewards

Katelynn Groh—For my last blog of the semester, I will be telling you guys about my favorite memory. And it’s actually a lot harder to pick a favorite memory than you’d think. But I’ve chosen the time I was chosen for the Townhomes Assistant (TA) position.

My freshman year of college I lived in McFarlane, then last year (my first year as an RA) I was placed in McFarlane, and I was placed there again for my second RA year. I guess long story short is that I have never lived in any other building other than McFarlane. For a couple months, I had been toying with the idea of moving someplace different next year…. I was strongly considering middle quad (BenDob or Harmon-Gordon) or being a TA. But I was on the fence because it would be such a huge change and a big step outside of my comfort zone and I didn’t know if it would be a good thing.

But then it came time to apply for the TA position and I thought I’d give it a shot. The funny thing was, when I went in for my interview I had a concussion and it was my first day back so I was so confused and overwhelmed. But apparently I did well because I got the position the following Friday! I remember cracking a joke that got my interviewers’ funny bones. LOLZ.

Anyways, I’m really glad I stepped outside of my comfort zone and accepted the TA position. I get to live in the nicest buildings on campus and I get to have 3 roommates! But most importantly, I have 2 of my very best friends on my staff next year and I couldn’t be more thrilled to work together!
