Missy Fischer—This past weekend was quite an eventful one here at SUNY Brockport. The Homecoming theme was I love NY, so throughout the week the dining halls served foods that are popular in NY, such as cheesecake, Dinosaur BBQ Wings, and Bagels. This is one of the things I really love about SUNY Brockport is that they make such a big deal about all the campus-wide events which really builds a sense of community. Thursday night there was a Homecoming Pageant which included a pageant for all the students running for Homecoming Queen and King! Our very own, Emily Derrenbacher was on the Homecoming Court!! After the pageant there was a talent show, also! Then on Friday night there was a pep rally in the SERC which was a cool way to pump up the student body for the game Saturday night which is the first night game under the lights on the new turf. (Which is absolutely beautiful!)
The game was awesome. The weather was a perfect to watch and enjoy a football game with friends. At half time, the Dance Team performed a routine that had an ‘I Love NY’ theme to it. The performance was great and you could tell all the dancers had put a lot of time and effort into it. Although the final score of the football game wasn’t what everyone hoped, all in all it was a great homecoming and I know a lot of students had a great time as well.
Here’s a picture my friend took of the sunset that night with the Football team and new turf!!
